Over .500
As of yesterday, judging by the major league standings, only 10 of the 30 teams have records above .500. I figure this to change a bit over the season, but one never knows. I wonder what percentage of teams have winning records each year throughout history. I could figure that one out, but I'm not so without a life as to try.

All Alone In First Place
After one game, the Giants are all alone in first place with a record of 1-0. The Rockies are in 2nd with a 2-1 record. Wire to wire? Last time that happened, the 2003 Giants failed miserably in the playoffs against the Florida Marlins.

Tampa Bay Best Record In Baseball
As of right now, the Tampa Bay Rays have the best record in all of baseball. No, it's not opening day. Amazing. The Yankees are also in last place.

Loser Takes It All?
Unlike the NFL, NBA and NHL (it's routine in the NBA and NHL), Major League Baseball has never had a non-winning team in post-season play. This year might be an exception. The entire NL West is still under .500, and with each "contender" with several out-of-division series left that they could lose, and the possibility of playing .500 ball within the division, we could have a loser win the division.
Then they could go 11-8 in the post season and take home the trophy. It would be kinda funny. I'm rooting for any non-Dodger NL West team to win it all.
